The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) hosted a courtesy visit from the Director of the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre Zone F, Commander Benning at the FCWC headquarters March 8th, 2019.
The courtesy visit was focused on maritime security and the identification of opportunities for the two organizations to work together.
“We are very pleased to be working with the MMCC on addressing illegal fishing activities that affect the sustainability of fisheries, the livelihoods of people and food security in the region,“ said Secretary-General, Seraphin Dedi.
“Although we address other maritime security issues, we are turning our attention to fisheries because those illegalities are happening daily” said Commander Benning.
The FCWC adopted “Maritime Security and Sustainable Fisheries Development” as its theme for the 2019-year, and this activity is one of several in support of the theme.
