The Secretary General of the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) Dr. Antoine Gaston Djihinto led a delegation to hold a high-level meeting on 20 December 2023 with the Director General (DG) of Liberia’s National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) Hon. Emma Glassco on the upcoming 15th Conference of Ministers Meeting.
The meeting was organized to iron out the details of Liberia’s commitment to hosting the next Conference of Ministers given the context of Liberia’s transition to a new government after the runoff presidential elections last month (November 2023).
The delegation comprised FCWC Secretary General Dr Gaston Djihinto; Advisor to Ghana’s Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mr Samuel Quaatey; the Executive Director of Ghana’s Fisheries Commission, Mr Fred Kwasi Antwi-Boadu; and TMT’s Regional Coordinator, Ms Viviane Koutob. They met with the DG Hon. Emma Glassco, NaFAA Deputy Director General for Technical Services Mr William Boeh; NaFAA Chief of Staff, Mr Siekula Vannie and other NaFAA staff.
The key outcome of the meeting is a firm commitment from Liberia to host the conference in April 2024, irrespective of the change in government.
