The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) is participating in the 2nd General Assembly of the Aquaculture Network for Africa (ANAF) organized by the African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) in Naivasha, Kenya, from 15 – 17 January 2024.
The 2nd General Assembly is being held to formally present to the Directors of Fisheries and key stakeholders of the recent developments in ANAF to enhance aquaculture in Africa. At the last General Assembly, the Rules of Procedure of the General Congress, the draft Governance Instrument, and the Rules of Procedure of the Steering Committee were reviewed, validated and adopted.
The Aquaculture Network for Africa (ANAF) is a continental network which was launched after the 2005 Fish for All Summit identified the need to “establish a regional network of aquaculture policy practitioners, supported by other leading government planning sectors, to accelerate the development of aquaculture strategies and their integration into wider economic strategies at national level.”
