M. Antoine Gaston DJIHINTO was born in 1959 in Hinvi-Dovo (Allada), Republic of Benin. He has an impressive academic background, holding a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences from the State Maritime Academy Admiral Makarov in Saint Petersburg, Russia, obtained in 2008.
He also holds a Degree in Merchant Marine Engineering from the State Maritime Academy of Odessa, Ukraine, in 1995, as well as a Degree as an assistant engineer-technologist from the Maritime Professional School of Fishing Industries in Astrakhan, Russia, in 1985.
He dedicated his career to the fishing industry, where he has worked since 1985. He climbed the ranks of administration until his appointment as Director of Fisheries Production in 2015. In October 2015, he was appointed National Director of Fisheries of Benin. During his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and skills, resulting in notable achievements for Benin’s fishing sector.
In December 2022, Mr. DJIHINTO retired as National Director of Fisheries of Benin, after an exceptional career as a civil servant.
In January 2023, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) for a renewable statutory term of 5 years. His appointment is the result of his years of experience and dedication in the field of fisheries.
Mr. DJIHINTO is married and has two children.
He is respected for his professionalism and integrity. He is also known for his dedication to the development of the fishing industry in West Africa.
