The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) is organizing a Training of Trainers course for Francophone participants at the Institute of Interregional Maritime Security (ISMI) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from 9-13
th September 2019 as part of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the European Union-funded Improved Regional Fisheries Governance (PESCAO) projects.
The objective of the Training for Trainers course is to build and strengthen a pool of fisheries personnel trainers in each FCWC member country, ensuring the continuity of the capacity building outcomes of the region. This training comes as a follow up to previous training organised by the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) in Vigo, Spain in October 2018.
The targeted personnel for the training are mid-career personnel who occupy technical positions at their national fisheries administrations, including other member agencies of WATF National Working Group (e.g. Navy, port, etc.) who will be able and willing to train their peers.
This activities is organized under an MoU signed early this year between the FCWC, ISMI, the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) and the Sub Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) for the provision of harmonized training programs for West Africa MCS experts.
An English version of this course for Anglophone participants is being organized later this year in Accra, Ghana.
