SAN ANTONIO — The United States Department of Agriculture says fish imported from Nigeria was unauthorized to be distributed in the United States.
Olufela Yemitan, the Importer of Record, a Houston firm, is recalling about 45 pounds of smoked Siluriformes products, according to a news release. The affected product is described as 1 pound plastic-wrapped packages of dried, smoked Siluriformes containing “picante fishes spicy catfish smoked with tomato pepper sauce ready to eat now!!!!!”
The products were imported from Nigeria, a country that is not eligible to export Siluriformes to the United States, according to the news release.
There are no reports of adverse reactions. If you’ve purchased the product, please do not consume it and return it immediately.
