Fishing Enterprises Pesca XXI and Grupo Balfegó will present an innovative traceability system for bluefin tuna based on the use of QR codes next week in Madrid.
This presentation, entitled “Traceability and Sustainability” will be held during the Second Day “Mercamadrid for Innovation” and is part of the battle undertaken by Mercamadrid against fraud in the fish food chain and trade, and sale of illegal products without control over their origin.
This new system offers wholesalers, retailers and consumers all the necessary information to buy and sell bluefin tuna legally, with the guarantee of the highest quality and in the most transparent way possible.
Through their phones, attendees can check the information that includes the QR code accompanying the product and including other data: capture date and zone, cages where it has been, ICCAT documentation, slaughter date, food, landing port, weight and measure, fat percentage, microbiological analysis and product quality certificate.
The event, which will take place on Monday, October 10, will be chaired by the director general of Mercamadrid, David Chica Marcos; Balfegó general director, Juan Serrano, and the manager of Pesca XXI, José Antonio Cobo.
