Fishermen at Abotuase Tepa in the Biakoye District of the Volta Region have expressed concerns about the inadequate supply of premix fuel. They say the situation is affecting their fishing activities.
In spite of the recent increase in supply of premix fuel in the country, the supply of the fuel is still not meeting the demands of fishermen in most fishing communities.
At Abotuase Tepa in the Biakoye District of the Volta region, the fishermen are complaining of inadequate supply of premix fuel.
The current situation has brought untold hardship to the fishermen and canoe owners at Abotuase Tepa.
In an interview with the chairman of the landing beach committee at Abotuase Tepa, Raphat Foli Botsoe, he explained that currently only two tankers of premix fuel are delivered to the fisher folks in the community.
This, according to him is woefully inadequate to meet the demands of over 1000 canoes being operated by the fishermen.
He however commended government for tackling pair trawling activities in the fishing industry and called on government to turn its attention to supplying adequate premix fuel to the fishing communities.
