Dar es Salaam — A parliament probe team has advised the government to harmonise fishing regulations in the Mainland and Zanzibar as part of efforts to curb crime in the deep waters.
The call was made yesterday by Ms Anastazia Wambura, the chairperson of the Deep Sea Fishing Committee, who yesterday submitted findings of an investigation into the fisheries sector to the National Assembly Speaker, Mr Job Ndugai.
According to the findings of the probe team, there are two systems for managing and supervising the fisheries sector. This, Ms Wambura noted, was a weakness allowing criminal activity.
