Background and Justification
The Fisheries Committee of the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) is an intergovernmental organisation for regional fisheries cooperation established by the Convention signed on 07 November 2007 in Cotonou, Benin by the six (6) States Parties: Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo and Liberia. The Committee is based in Tema, Ghana, as host country.
The main objective of the organisation is the promotion of cooperation between the Contracting Parties with a view to ensuring, through appropriate management, the preservation and optimal use of the living marine resources of the area covered by the Convention on Establishment and to promote the sustainable development of fisheries on the basis of these resources.
As part of the implementation of the European Union Project entitled: “Improving Regional Fisheries Governance in West Africa – PESCAO“, the General Secretariat of the Committee is recruiting a Driver.
- Place of assignment: General Secretariat of the Committee in Tema, Ghana, with the possibility of traveling to member countries.
- Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract (FTC) of four (4) years.
- Date of taking office: 3rd January, 2018
Duties and responsibilities:
- Drive vehicles as may be assigned by Project Manager,
- Collect and deliver official mails and parcels,
- Provide a reliable and secure driving services in accordance with the requirements of the highway code in force at the time,
- Ensure the safety of passengers by adhering to all safety requirements,
- Ensure proper use of vehicles, by performing day-to-day maintenance (checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc…),
- Perform minor repairs, promptly report any fault or damage detected in any of the Vehicles and arrange for repairs,
- Ensure that vehicles are kept clean and maintenance book is up-to-date,
- Maintain a log book of all movements of the vehicle,
- Ensure that vehicle insurance policy, licenses, road-worthiness and related documentation are acquired and maintained up to date,
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
- Driving license
- high school diploma
- Being a national of one of the member states of the FCWC,
- Have at least 3 years of proven professional experience in a similar position including at 2 years with an international organization,
- Fluency in French/English and knowledge of spoken English/French,
- Professional experience in administrative and logistical assistance is an asset,
- Other abilities
- Have a good knowledge of the functioning of inter-governmental structures;
- Have good communication and organisational skills;
- Being able to work in a team and under pressure;
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
- Have excellent interpersonal skills,
