As part of the activities of the Journalist Training Workshop initiated by the Improved Fisheries Governance in Ghana and the Wider Sub-Region (IFG) project, a group of 12 journalists from Benin, Togo, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and members of Ghana’s Journalists for Responsible Fisheries and Environment (JRFE) visited the centre on Wednesday 22 June 2022 to deepen their understanding of the RMCSC’s contribution to combatting IUU Fishing, and to echo these achievements in their reportage henceforth.
The journalists were given a real-time demonstration of the capabilities of the Regional Vessel Monitoring System (RVMS), and how the information-gathering and intelligence is developed at the RMCSC and shared with FCWC Member States for action against illegal fishing and associated crimes in the region.
