The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) in conjunction with Stop Illegal Fishing (SIF) and Trygg Mat Tracking (TMT) has released a report containing a collection of case studies on transhipment in the FCWC region.
The report aims to demonstrate the complexity of transhipment through analyses of cases involving different iterations of the operation within the region. Analyses of these cases revealed that there are currently five main types of transhipment; transhipment to reefers; transhipment to factory vessels; transhipment to converted fishing vessels; transhipment to small transport vessels; and transhipment to containers.
The report is a forerunner to a larger upcoming report Transhipment; Issues and Responses in the FCWC Region, due for publication later this year.
