The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC), represented by Mrs. Abena Serwah Asante – Fisheries Technical Advisor, participated in a regional validation workshop organized by the Economic Committee of West African States (ECOWAS), European Union and Technical Assistants of the Improved Regional Fisheries Governance (PESCAO) Project on 9 to 10 October 2019 in Lomé, Togo.
Directors of fisheries and aquaculture, representatives of non-state actors and partners convened to validate the draft Comprehensive Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture to complement the regional agricultural policy. The draft was developed to complement the regional agricultural policy (ECOWAP/ECOWAS).
The workshop is a follow up to the FAO/FIRST Workshop of the Directors of Fisheries and Aquaculture on the validation and in-depth analysis of the effectiveness of national policies. Participants validated the draft and provided technical guidelines for the aligning national fisheries and aquaculture policies to the framework.
