The Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) is hosting three-day pre-contract meeting with a team from Xsealence Sea Technologies, from 8th-11th September 2019 at the FCWC Secretariat in Tema, Ghana.
The pre-contract meeting is being held as part of the tender process for the supply of the regional vessel monitoring equipment to the European Union-funded Improved Regional Fisheries Management in West Africa (PESCAO) project that the FCWC is implementing. Xsealence Sea Technologies emerged as the successful tenderer during the open tender process to establish the regional fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance centre incorporating the pooled data of the FCWC Member States (Benin, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo), third countries and other parties, from their vessel monitoring systems (VMS), automatic identification services (AIS) and other relevant data sources.
Subject to the outcome of this pre-contract meeting, the contract to supply the VMS equipment will be signed by both parties to begin the delivery and installation of the regional VMS.
The FCWC was established in 2007 to facilitate cooperation in fisheries management between the member countries: Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. The countries have several shared fish stocks and identified a need for cooperation and shared management of these resources.
