The President of Guinea, Alpha Conde, has signed a new law to strengthen the country’s campaign against illegal fishing Star Africa reports that , in addition to already existing measures, the new strategies will enhance the air surveillance and control of Guinea’s fisheries activities in line with the international norms. Other measures include the obligation to use tracking equipment to identify fishing vessels. Guinea’s latest move follows threats by the European Union against the country over its failure to end illicit fishing activities.
