The Fisheries Committee for the West
Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) hosted a team comprising Mr. Watanabe and Mr. Miyasaka
from the Ghana office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 3rd
February 2020 at the FCWC Secretariat headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify potential
areas of collaboration and inclusion in the new strategic plan for the FCWC. The
JICA Côte d'Ivoire Office earlier this year invited proposals to provide
consulting services for the development a strategic plan for the FCWC for the
next ten (10) years (2021-2030).
JICA is developing bilateral collaboration with a number of FCWC countries; the new approach envisaged is to develop a regional project in order to widen their support to West Africa. A regional seminar on continental aquaculture is being organized from the 3 - 5 March 2020 in Cotonou, Benin.
