Ethiopia is studying strategies to attract more investments to the fishing industry, with the objective of developing the sector and minimizing the existing dependence on the domestic market for the importation of fishery products.
This nation of the African Horn, without exit to the sea, depends solely on lakes and rivers for the demands and consumption of fishery products.
According to Getahun Mekuria, Minister of Science and Technology, due to the current lack of modern processing equipment in the sector, the country was not able to fully utilize its abundant resources in this area, as per Prensa Latina.
By highlighting the long-term detrimental consequences of the high subordination to imported fish products, Mekuria also called for concerted efforts to address local needs through national resources.
"All patients, regardless of age, geographic location or income, will have equal access to reliable and excellent clinical care to protect them from harm and treat them with dignity and respect," said a new regulation published Tuesday by the Ministry. of Public Health.
The strategy ranges from prevention to palliative care and places special emphasis on the reduction of maternal mortality, as well as the management of severe acute malnutrition that affects around 40 percent of children in the country.
