The AU-IBAR is consulting the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) through a mission led by Dr. Mohammed Seisay, Senior Fisheries Officer at AU-IBAR. It is a seven-day working visit from 25th February to 1st March 2019, to solicit the FCWC’s views towards strengthening Secretariat of the Conference of African Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CAMFA) under the Regional Partnership of the African Fisheries reform –RAFIP.

The AU-IBAR is undertaking a review of current terms of reference for the CAMFA Secretariat and also documenting the status of implementation of the past and present recommendations of AU Ministerial conferences on fisheries.

“We welcome this visit and the recognition of the FCWC as one of the key stakeholders to contribute to this process of strengthening CAMFA,” said FCWC Secretary-General Mr Seraphin Dedi.

Other planned activities include meetings with the FAORAF, Ghana’s Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, The National Fish Processors and Trade Association.
